Dr. Kathy Kramer Named Dean of the School of Education and Human Services

Dr. Kathy Kramer has been named the founding dean of the School of Education and Human Services at Carroll University. Dr Kramer, who has three decades of teaching experience, previously served as interim dean of the school from July to December 2020. She also serves as director of graduate education and has been an education faculty member at Carroll since 2000. In her new role, she will lead and direct the efforts of the school including curriculum development, programming and partnership engagement and collaboration.

“It is a privilege to announce Dr. Kramer as the founding dean of our School of Education and Human Services at Carroll University. She understands our mission, embodies our ethos, and her dedication and commitment to Carroll over the years to prepare our future educators is admirable,” said Carroll University President Dr. Cindy Gnadinger. “Our School of Education and Human Services continues to grow with new degrees and certificate and credential programs, and I am happy that Dr. Kramer will lead these efforts to better meet our students’ educational needs.” 

Dr. Kramer is a co-creator and developer of the Carroll University Inclusive Teacher Residency Program and was honored with the Norman and Louise Allhiser Award for Excellence in Teaching from Carroll in 2006. She has a B.S. in elementary education and an M.S. in special education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and holds an Ed.D. in leadership in curriculum and instruction from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois.

The news comes on the heels of a newly renovated Education Hall, located at 316. N. Barstow St., which was damaged by straight-line winds in June 2019. The completely renovated and updated building, outfitted with the latest technology, is home to the School of Education and Human Services.

She is the ideal person to lead our School of Education and Human Services,” said Dr. Mark Blegen, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Carroll University. “Through her vision and leadership, Dr. Kramer has made significant and meaningful contributions as interim dean, and I look forward to her and her team making an even greater impact on Carroll University for years to come.”
