Ways to Give

We have many areas of need at Carroll and there are many ways you can contribute to the university. Contributions directly impact our Carroll students' learning toward discovery, growth and knowledge.

Cash gifts are outright gifts of checks, drafts and money orders and are deductible up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income (AGI) for federal income tax purposes. Cash contributions in excess of the deduction limitations may be carried over and deducted in the next five tax years following the gift.

If mailed before the end of the calendar year, those who itemize will be able to take an income tax deduction for their gift that year.

Pledges are officially recorded in writing or by use of a pledge card.

Checks, money orders or bank drafts can be made payable to Carroll University. Credit cards accepted through online giving include MasterCard, Visa or American Express.

Gifts by check can be made payable to Carroll University and sent to:

Gifts of Securities

A gift of stocks and securities can provide even greater tax benefits than a cash gift of equal value. Gifts of long-term appreciated securities (owned for more than one year) provide significant tax advantages. The IRS currently allows you to deduct the full fair market value of the property up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income for the year. Any amount over that ceiling can be carried forward, up to five years, for future deductions.

A gift of stock or other securities is considered made on the day the transfer is completed. Please notify the Office of Development by sending a copy of your transfer instructions. This is very important as it allows the gift to be identified when it arrives.

Gifts-in-kind are non-monetary items of tangible personal property or other physical assets that represent value to the university. Those gifts might include books, artwork and equipment.

Every year Carroll alumni volunteer their time serving their University, their community and their world, an attribute instilled in them as students, and carried with them throughout their lives.
