Carroll University is proud to announce the appointments of Sue Hayes ‘81 and Kathy Wolfgram ‘76 as the newest members on the board of trustees. Hayes began her 3-year trustee term on the Academic and Student Life Committee on July 1, 2021. Wolfgram will begin her 3- year term on the Investment and Mission and Governance Committees.
Hayes graduated from Carroll in 1981 with degrees in mathematics and psychology, then started her career as a programmer with the Bell Telephone Company in Colorado. During her time at Carroll, she played women’s volleyball, and developed what would become a lifelong interest in running.
In 1997, NIKE, Inc. reached out to Hayes with an opportunity to work in the technology division in Portland, Ore. This prospect paired perfectly with her career goals and passion for running and sports.
For the past 24 years, Hayes has served as a technology leader managing software development teams to build supply chain capabilities, enterprise platforms and NIKE digital apps. She currently serves as a senior director, global technology – Strategic Enterprise Capabilities for Nike, Inc.
Hayes has an MBA from the University of Colorado and a master certificate in program management from the University of Denver.
Wolfgram earned a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in education from Carroll College (now Carroll University) in 1976. She was employed by the Dow Chemical Company in Michigan and Ohio for more than 20 years, including 15 years in a variety of process, product and business development management assignments.
When Dow relocated from Ohio to Michigan, Kathy elected to stay in the Columbus, Ohio area. A 17-year career followed at CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society.
From 2006 until her retirement in 2014, Kathy served as a director at CAS. Responsibilities included oversight of 400 internationally diverse, predominately Ph.D. scientists building chemical information databases searched by universities, corporations and patent offices; identification and assessment of process and content initiatives with the ACS (Journals) Publication Division; and evaluation and development of new business based on evolving CAS database content.

Wolfgram’s nonprofit volunteer experience includes supporting the United Way of Franklin County Ohio (Allocations Committee, Education Vision Council and Management Advisory Committee). She also served as president of a congregation consisting of more than 1,200 members and president of the Foundation Board for the Columbus Ohio Rotary.
Additionally, Wolfgram has been an active member of the Capital University board of trustees. The trustee responsibilities for the past 12 years have included chairing the Student Affairs Committee and serving as board secretary, as a member of the Executive Committee and as a member of the Presidential Search Committee.
