Integrated Clinical Experiences | Doctor of Physical Therapy

The Carroll University Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy, Integrated Clinical Experience courses are dedicated to the education and training of physical therapists through part-time clinical experiences. Consistent with the Carroll University mission to provide students with a superior learning opportunity, the Physical Therapy Program's Integrated Clinical Experience includes an innovative three-course sequence of hands-on education and training to prepare student physical therapists for effective practice during full-time clinical experiences.

The courses begin during the program's second year and run concurrently with traditional classroom courses. The emphasis is on active learning through various opportunities and settings. Integrated Clinical Experiences include participation in the Carroll University athletic training room, acute care observation, the on-campus pro-bono Therapeutic Abilities Clinic, pediatric and geriatric experiences, and massage clinic. The Integrated Clinical Experience courses provide clinical practice opportunities for physical therapy students while offering healthcare services to the community.

The physical therapy program is proud to offer this unique experience to Carroll University's physical therapy students. We believe student learning is most effective when classroom instruction coincides with clinical application. In addition, Integrated Clinical Experience courses provide students with numerous opportunities to develop and refine their professional behaviors, patient management, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills while serving community needs. The courses are scheduled for two days each week when the students are on campus during the graduate phase of the professional program. See the Carroll University catalog for detailed course descriptions (PTH6521, 6531, 7621).
