Job Title – Art Assistant

Purpose of Job

  • To assist Art and GRC faculty with a variety of tasks ranging from clerical to special projects to gallery work.
  • To assists students using macs and printers in the Art Library of the Art Building.
  • To staff the art building and mac labs: open classrooms, answer questions, monitor mac labs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain mac labs in Art Building, which involves overseeing printers and keeping rooms clean and stocked with ink and paper. 
  • Assist students and faculty with macs and printers.
  • Assist faculty with clerical work and other jobs as requested.
  • Clean/maintain art studios.
  • Design posters and announcements.
  • Regular gallery work: installing shows, repairing walls and pedestals, creating labels.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Adobe Photoshop Suite or current enrollment in a GRC or Photo course.
  • Self-motivation to complete routine tasks without supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with faculty on short and long-term projects.
  • Ability to do physical and often messy work like paint, scrub, dust, carry, etc.
