Biography

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Nick has provided psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals, couples, and families in community outreach, group private practice, and individual private practice settings. Nick has worked as a consultant for small businesses, community outreach programs, as well as various organizations helping them address mental health related issues that they face in their specific contexts.

Along with the counseling and consulting work and teaching at Carroll, Nick’s full-time work is as an Associate Wealth Manager at Annex Wealth Management where he provides financial planning and other services to a wide variety of clients.

Nick is also a certified Tennis professional with the United State Professional Tennis Association and hascoach state, regional, and nationally ranked tennis players. Nick has also coached Collegiately at The University of Minnesota and Marquette University.

Scholarly and Professional Achievements

Nick has presented to various organizations and groups. These include the American Association for
Marriage and Family Therapy, The United States Professional Tennis Association, Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, and other organizations and non-profits in Southeastern Wisconsin.

What is your teaching style?

I appreciate dialogue and discussion to make the theoretical concepts personal and practical without
losing sight of the theory. I like to ask questions and encourage deeper thinking and understanding of
underlying beliefs, views, and opinions.

Why do you do what you do?

"Give someone a fish and they will eat for a day, teach someone to fish and they will eat for a lifetime" I
desire for the next generation of individuals to be able to provide for and not just consume.

How do you make learning engaging?

There is a theoretical, practical, and personal part of psychology and counseling. My hope is that I can
help students engage all three areas in every assigned reading, assignment, and discussion. My hope is
for the course content to have an impact on students’ professional development but also personal
development as well.

What should students know about you?

I try to be funny which most of the time doesn’t work as my
humor doesn’t seem to be that funny. haha.....On a serious note. I have a deep desire to help people
develop personally, professionally, and relationally. I have seen many areas of the counseling profession
and wish to help students, fellow mental health professionals, and clients to the fullest I am able.
