What We Do

The Pioneer Cheerleaders support Carroll University's football team and basketball teams at all home games and Events. You can find us on the sidelines performing a combination of dances, chants, stunts, pyramids, and tumbling skills.

The 2025-2026 team will perform and compete at local, state, and regional competitions.

Cheerleaders attend campus and community events such as the Bryon's Run/Walk/ Roll 5K to Cure Paralysis, and Spirit of Hope which is hosted by the Blaze Dance Team to raise funds for breast cancer research. Reach out to kwoodard@carrollu.edu for more information on how to get the Pioneer Cheerleaders to make an appearance at your upcoming event.

Financial Obligations

Team members are responsible for financing items such as shoes, personal uniform pieces, and apparel items. The program provides branded uniforms, poms, backpacks, and warmups. Items loaned out by the school must be returned at the end of the season as they are property of Carroll University. Team members are expected to participate in multiple fundraisers throughout the season. These fundraisers help to keep the individual participant cost low and the student-athlete experience high. Keep an eye out for current fundraisers.

Time Commitment

Practices are 2-3 times a week depending on team placement. Team members are expected to be at every practice and game, this may also include games and weekend practices over academic breaks. Summer practices are planned to take place one weekend each month, specific dates will be determined after tryouts.

Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2025-2026 team will be held on April 26th with open gyms leading up to then on March 29th and April 12th. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate precision in stunts, cheer, dance, and jumps. Tumbling is suggested but not required. For tryout material and questions, email head coach, Kristen Woodard kwoodard@carrollu.edu
