Brown, Shackelford Manuscript Honored as Paper of the Year

A manuscript by Carroll professors Jessica M. Brown, Ph.D., and Daniel Shackelford, Ph.D., has been recognized as Paper of the Year by the Translational Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). “Evaluation of an Exercise-Based Phase Program as Part of a Standard Care Model for Cancer Survivors,” was published in 2019.

This spring, two Carroll alumnae were quickly launched into the era of virtual teaching. Maria Franke '20, and Sydney Kennedy ’14, ’18, were supposed to work side by side this with second-grade special education students, but that experience was cut short in March by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Professors expressed their pride at being part of their students’ amazing Carroll journey and assured them great things were just around the corner. Alumni young and old welcomed class members into the family and encouraged grads to stay in touch with each other and the university. There were even virtual “knucks” as one staffer offered up a fist bump to the camera.

Nothing could stop the Almost Done Pioneer Run/Walk as faculty and students came together for a virtual, stress-busting event. This year, due to the pandemic, people were asked to choose their own route and to snap photos or video to share. Many were joined by family members, roommates and furry friends during their quest.

Carroll University will host a "Career Closet" leading up to the 29th Annual Workforce Fair. The pop-up clothing shop will provide free interview attire for students to have for any job or internship interview, as well as other career fairs. Students may "shop" for for their interview clothes the week of Feb. 10-14, 2020.
