The Rev. Elizabeth McCord
This week’s prayer draws on Psalm 27. Among our many prayers at this time, please join me in remembering healthcare professionals for their own health and wellbeing; leaders in all settings for their decision-making; and all those who are physically, financially, emotionally or otherwise especially vulnerable. Let us also give thanks for educators in all settings who are adapting to online instruction and pray for students, our own and others, who are adjusting to a new way of learning.
Sanctuary of our Souls,
We find ourselves in the wild,
pursued by trouble,
seeking refuge.
Stretch out your arms of grace.
Reach over us, hide us
from the rugged wind and the piercing heat.
Help us find safety and rest in you.
In your shelter, we wait
for the threat to pass,
for the healing to happen,
for life to be restored.
In your shelter, we wait
for the knowledge to conquer disease,
for the pathway to regain our footing,
for the sign that it is safe to come out.
In your shelter, we wait
praying for the most vulnerable among us,
grateful for caregivers on the frontlines,
grieving with individuals, our nation, your world.
Give us patience and protection.
Give us perseverance and perceptivity.
Let us again see your goodness
in the land of the living.
We wait for you, God.
We will be strong and take heart
as we wait for you.
Amen.
