Veterans will see many perks at Carroll University on November 11. These perks are only some of the wide range of Veteran- and Military-Friendly programming Carroll offers throughout the year.
In celebration of Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, Carroll will offer special perks for veterans in honor of their service. The main event will be a Teams lunch with Sgt. Greg Fischer, founder of Inner Edge Consulting, who will discuss networking and job hunting in a prerecorded presentation. Veterans will receive a link via email to access the talk.

Fischer served in three combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. As a U.S. Marine, he led and participated in combat and humanitarian missions. Honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant in 2006, he received his B.S. and MBA degrees before spending 10 years in the insurance and finance sectors as a leader and coach. In 2020, he founded Inner Edge Consulting, where he coaches people on how to achieve their personal and professional goals.

The Carroll community is now being asked to wrote notes of thanks to veterans. Due to COVID-19, this activity will not take place in the Campus Center but will be handled at a department level. Once you have filled out a card, they can be dropped off at the front desk of the library, the Campus Center information desk and the registrar’s office.

Other perks of note for veterans, all on Nov. 11:
  • Free Food: Veterans eat free in the Main Dining Room (MDR) with their military ID.
  • Vets Shop for Less: Vets receive a 20% discount on one item in-store at the Pioneer Shop with military ID.
  • Greenlight a Vet: Carroll University will be illuminated green at night in honor of our student veterans and all veterans. The Greenlight Project, started by Walmart, uses the color green to symbolize hope, renewal and well-being.
  • Cross-Cultural Experience: Veterans can receive advising on their CCEs from Cyd Fote in the Diversity Lounge in Kilgour. Snacks will be provided.
  • Replacement I.D. cards: In appreciation for their service, the Pioneer Card Office would like to offer veterans a replacement card at no charge from 7 a.m.–11: 30 p.m. at the Campus Center Information Desk. Please bring your military ID with you. Please call 262.524.7367 with any questions.
  • Flag Salute for the Vets: The Republican and Democratic student organizations will come together on Veteran’s Day to honor the Carroll Student Veteran’s by lining the Carroll University sidewalks with flags.
