Sunset Bowl
With the official paperwork behind her this July, Jaelynn Hoehnen ’21 is now the owner of Sunset Bowl.

Jaelynn is a Waukesha native but was a transfer student to Carroll. “My first year I went to Whitewater so I could bowl on the university team while attending school, but I wanted to be closer to home. Transferring to Carroll worked out well and I was able to be a commuter and work while going to school.” She loved the campus and small class sizes saying, “You didn’t feel like you were a number.” When Jaelynn needed a place to study her go-to place was the quiet part of the library. She also appreciated her advisor, Mary Wisniewski, and recalls her financial accounting professor made accounting ‘click’ for her, which has already served her well in her new role. Jaelynn says that her time as a business administration major paired with her busy work schedule prepared her for balancing the ebbs and flows of running a business.

Knowing that running a business can be stressful, Jaelynn makes sure to take time for working out, staying active, and walking her two dogs. She also continues to bowl competitively. She took first place in scratch doubles with her sister-in-law and first place in scratch all events at the 2022 Wisconsin Women's Championship Tournament.

“I love that Carroll is a bigger part of the Waukesha community,” says Jaelynn. She will forever remember a group of bowlers who she didn’t know personally and later found out to be Carroll students. A patron of the bowling alley noticed how much fun the group was having and how positive they were and coordinated paying for the group. “You can just tell when someone is connected to Carroll.”

It helps that Sunset Bowl is the home of the Carroll Women’s Bowling Team and there are dedicated lanes embossed with Pio Pete. Jaelynn is up to the challenge of owning her own business and is most looking forward to building relationships and connecting people. She is poised for success as she takes over the bowling alley and the Alumni Engagement team hopes to host events at Sunset Bowl in the future!
