What’s the difference between counseling and therapy?

At the CCC, we generally don’t differentiate between the two, and we often use the terms interchangeably. However, technically, counseling focuses on a specific issue and tends to be shorter-term. Therapy can focus on specific issues, but it often seeks to understand the underlying patterns that connect experiences in a client’s life. Therapy can be short or long-term.
