Major: Global Studies and History
Why did you choose to attend Carroll University?
I chose Carroll University primarily due to its small campus and great community.
What made you choose your academic major or area of study?
I have always been interested in medieval history as well as contemporary politics, so when choosing a major for 'pre-law', I decided to follow those two interests of mine to deepen my knowledge about the world that we live in, before going to law school.
How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?
I focused on Medieval History for most of my history classes and it has truly helped me understand the world we live in so much better.
What opportunities have you had to work closely with a faculty member and what impact has that had on your education?
I feel like at Carroll, due to it being a small campus and a close knit community, faculty is always here to help and work with you. I am currently doing an Interdisciplinary Independent Study with Dr. Huck, and I have previously done an Independent study with Dr. Hendrix, wich have both challenged my views on the world as well as helped me grow academically.
What’s one unique experience you’ve had relating to the coursework for your academic major or area of study?
I was able to do research on a monastery back home, which was very meaningful and interesting to do from an 'american' standpoint, as an international student.
How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person outside of the skills you’re learning in the classroom?
Carroll has given me so much, the community and support on campus are better than I could have dreamed of my freshman year. In addition to working as an Orientation Mentor and helping facilitate a welcoming community for incoming first years, I have been a Student Alumni Ambassador for two years now, which allows me to work closely with Alumni.
