Federal Grant Responsible Conduct of Research
Federal Grant Responsible Conduct of Research Policy
Responsible Office or Person:
Provost Office
Compliance
When the funding organization requires that all researchers participating in funded projects (faculty, students, and staff) receive training in the responsible conduct of research (RCR), the Grants Staff will collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) on funded projects to ensure all researchers have completed the required training. Upon notice of a successful grant award with RCR requirement, Grants Staff will meet with the PI to inform him/her of the RCR Policy and how to complete and document RCR training. The PI will notify all undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty and staff who will be conducting research to inform them of the RCR training requirements. These personnel will be required to provide documentation to the Grants Staff that they and any other personnel have completed RCR training. RCR training will be required to be completed within 30 days of the notification of funding for the project or the commencement of work on the project.
RCR training will be provided by Carroll University through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative's (CITI) online training program. The Grants Staff will serve as the administrators for access to the CITI training program. Upon completion of training, an RCR training completion report will be forwarded to the Grants Staff. A comprehensive record of RCR training completion reports will be maintained by the Grants Staff and will be made available to the PI, College Dean and Provost's offices.
