Job Title – CU Connect Associate

Purpose of Job

The main responsibilities of the CU Connect Associate are to connect with Carroll alumni, parents, and friends to promote the support of Carroll University through fundraising efforts. CUC Associates serve as student leaders and ambassadors for Carroll University who help foster relationships with external constituents and the Carroll campus community.

Working in the Office of Institutional Advancement is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and expertise in communication, fundraising, and public relations. All CU Connect students will make outreach to alumni and other constituents through digital and personal engagement using emails, phone calls, text messages, recorded videos, and/or social media to encourage involvement and donor participation. When possible, CU Connect Associates will promote crowdfunding efforts associated with Institutional Advancement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn to use engagement software (VanillaSoft)
  • Learn to use Raiser's Edge to gather information and make updates
  • Learn calling etiquette, expectations, and University policies
  • Make outreach, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship calls to alumni, parents, and friends
  • Achieve donor participation goals and total dollar goals both individually and as a team
  • Educate constituents on the importance of The Carrol Fund and other areas of support
  • Establish a positive rapport with those you call
  • Respond positively to overcome objections and answer questions about the University
  • Request gifts to The Carroll Fund / Parent and Family Fund, etc.
  • Update contact information and employment of all contacts
  • Follow all other procedures and guidelines per CU Connect training instructions

  • Comfort in soliciting personal donations
  • Solid time management skills
  • Persistence in securing a pledge and negotiating a pledge amount
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for Carrol University, its mission, and its program

Calling Shifts (Must work a minimum of 3 shifts per week)

  • Sunday: 2:00-4:00 p.m. | 4:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Monday: 4:00-6:00 p.m. | 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 4:00-6:00 p.m. | 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 4:00-6:00 p.m. | 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 4:00-6:00 p.m. | 6:00-8:00 p.m.
