Great news for Carroll students and alumni: the Milwaukee metropolitan area is the fifth best market in the nation for recent college graduates, according to ZipRecruiter.
The company, a web-based business that aggregates employment opportunities and provides job search services, analyzed internal company data, including a ratio of jobs to job seekers, commute times, walkability, affordability and unemployment rates. It also determined median salaries in each of the metropolitan areas for recent college grads using Payscale.com.
The Milwaukee area landed in the top five, with ZipRecruiter highlighting it as a great destination for humanities majors, due to its vibrant arts and entertainment scene. The presence of companies such as Harley Davidson and Briggs & Stratton make it a prime destination for engineering grads as well. Carroll University is located in Waukesha, Wis.—only 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee.
“ZipRecruiter confirms what we have seen,” said Dr. Charles Byler, dean of the college of arts and sciences. “Our graduates from all majors—including the humanities—are finding well-paying, satisfying jobs in the greater Milwaukee area. Carroll has good relationships with many of the major employers in the area, and we listen to what they tell us about the knowledge and skills that they look for in their employees. That feedback helps us to shape the educational experience of our students. Carroll also provides students with an excellent internship program that gives them important work experience and connections to potential employers.”
