After retiring from his 28-year career as a firefighter in South Dakota, Dan Long ’79, along with his wife Agnes, relocated to Florida and purchased a 47’ catamaran sailboat to open their own charter sailing company, Smoke & Roses. After five years of building a successful business fulfilling other people’s sailing dreams, it was time for Dan and Agnes to fulfill a dream of their own. Signing up for the World ARC Rally, this pioneering couple took a sabbatical from chartering and sailed their floating workplace around the world on a 19-month, 30,000 nautical mile journey of a lifetime!
