Thomas F. Badciong '62

2003 P.E. MacAllister Distinguished Alumnus Award for Service to Carroll

Tom Badciong '62 credits Carroll for providing him friendships and experiences that taught him “life lessons” that will be a part of him forever. As a Carroll student, Tom was active in the Beta Pi Epsilon fraternity and a letterman in football and track. His fondest memories are from the experiences shared and the friendships he made as a Beta and a student athlete. He believes the broad, liberal arts based education he received prepared him for a successful professional and personal life.

Tom is retired from his position as president and chief operating officer for Schreiber Cheese, a division of Schreiber Foods, Inc. in Green Bay, Wis. He was employed by the company for 22 years and remains active as a member of the Board of Directors.

He served on the boards of Inland Printing and the Cleveland Clinic, and has served as chairman and a director of the National Cheese Institute, the International Dairy Foods Association, the YMCA of Greater Green Bay and the Fort Howard Foundation. He is also a former chairman of the board of Up with People.

In his retirement, he continued to remain extremely active. He served on the Carroll Board of Trustees from 1990-2006 and was Chairman from 1995-2005, where he also oversaw the Executive Committee. He and his wife Jean have been generous and loyal supporters of Carroll. Badciong was instrumental in the success of the Gateway Campaign. Their gifts to Carroll totaled $2 million, including a $1.5 million gift for the $4 million renovation of historic Main Hall in 2002-03. He was also a member of the Trailblazers and Friends of Carroll College.

Tom looks at his contributions to Carroll as an investment in the future. He approached all of his responsibilities as a trustee, volunteer and committee member with a great deal of passion committed to assuring the continued success of Carroll. His loyalty to Carroll remains seeing his service as a way to give something in return to an institution that gave him so much.

Tom and his wife divide their time between Green Bay and Bonita Springs, Fla. They have two adult sons: Bryan, and his wife Runae, live in Atlanta, Ga., with children Haley and Mitchell; and Chris, and his wife Tina, live in Memphis, Tenn., with children Tyler and Brooke.
