Making decisions about your future, especially when it comes to college, isn’t always easy. It can be even more challenging for first-generation students. Carroll offers many innovative programs that introduce high school students of all backgrounds to the college experience, from academics to student life to everything in between. We work with you and your family to provide the support and information you need to help you reach your higher education goals.

Summer Programming

CU Rising Scholars

The CU Rising Scholars Program is a residential, week-long summer program. It gives high school students an opportunity to explore university life and gain academic, social and life skills that will help them succeed in a college setting. Program participants spend the week experiencing mock classes, working with current Carroll students and taking college preparatory workshops all while staying overnight in our residence halls and enjoying fun activities each evening.

Previous Pre-College Program

Project Pioneer

Project Pioneer is a pre-college enrichment program for high school students. It’s conveniently offered on Saturdays throughout the academic year and includes many participants who are the first generation in their families to attend college. Project Pioneer offers valuable information and preparation through exposure to a variety of cultural activities, college campuses and academic programs.

Project Pioneer program will be taking a break in the spring of 2023.

CU Exploring

CU Exploring consists of academic and college preparedness experiences that will create and foster interest in different career fields within STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) or the Arts. This day-long program will include: pre-college and admission presentations, interactive mini-courses, learning through hands-on activities, mentor groups led by Carroll University students, keynote speaker.

Due to COVID-19 this program has been removed until further notice.

PASOS

The United Community Center and Carroll University have partnered to offer Bruce Guadalupe Middle School and Acosta Middle School students a unique way to learn about and prepare for health science professions through Preparing and Advancing Students for Opportunities in Science (PASOS). Through workshops, hands-on experiences at Carroll’s and UCC’s campus, and personal attention from current college students and professors, PASOS students will find out what it takes to become a health science professional. Academic support and health science career exploration are provided throughout high school.
