More than half of Americans are currently living with a chronic disease, and 7 of the top 10 causes of death in the United States are due to conditions such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and pulmonary disorders. These trends make one thing clear: preventing, managing, and recovering from disease has never been more important.
Exercise Physiologist are vital members of the healthcare team who work hands-on with patients, using prescriptive exercise as medicine to fight diseases and improve health. They help cancer survivors offset the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, strengthen the heart and lungs of cardiopulmonary patients, and improve strength, balance, body composition, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness across a wide range of populations, ultimately extending life expectancy.
