Why did you choose to attend Carroll University?
I choose Carroll University due to the in-person courses and the welcoming environment. Carroll University has a strong reputation for providing great nurse educators and I wanted to be part of that culture!
What made you choose your academic major or area of study?
Being a part of the nursing profession for the last 16 years has inspired me to pass along the love of the nursing profession to future nurses.
How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?
Carroll has a wonderful curriculum that prepares students for future role of nurse educator. Each class has interactive learning strategies that support course content and provide a great example of a welcoming, inclusive environment.
What opportunities have you had to work closely with a faculty member and what impact has that had on your education?
Faculty members each are welcoming, engaging and supportive of student success. Dr. Karie Kobiske was wonderful in supporting our project for expanding Naloxone education to Carroll students and staff. Her guidance and encouragement helped make the project have a longer lasting effect on Carroll's campus.
What’s one unique experience you’ve had relating to the coursework for your academic major or area of study?
There are many opportunities for unique experiences through Carroll's Nursing Education program. A favorite was getting to build my own Canvas course in preparing for future role as a nurse educator. Getting to present a one hour lesson from this course provided hands-on experience.
How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person outside of the skills you’re learning in the classroom?
Carroll's nursing education curriculum aligns strongly with Carroll University's philosophy to provide knowledge, lifelong skills and endearing values. Each course provided relevant information that encouraged me to grow as a nurse and future nurse educator, making sure health equity is addressed, providing patient-centered, compassionate and safe care to each patient. Carroll's classes educated how these values can be transferred into my role as a future nurse educator in providing a welcoming, inclusive classroom that addresses each students needs.
I would highly recommend Carroll University's Masters of Nursing program to any nurse looking to further their career! Carroll University's faculty are top-notch, supportive in every way and provide each student with a great experience!
