What opportunities have you had to work closely with a faculty member and what impact has that had on your education?

I worked with Dr. Dolores Greenawalt to create a comprehensive writing resources page for the Carroll website to support students in search of more writing help. This project allowed me to apply my research and writing skills in a practical way. Through this experience, I learned how to create useful content and work to meet the needs of diverse learners… Whether it was working as a writing assistant or participating in campus events, I’ve learned the value of listening, supporting others, and contributing to something larger than myself. Carroll has helped me grow as a student and an individual who values connection, learning and community.

How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person outside of the skills you’re learning in the classroom?

Through campus involvement and meaningful relationships with peers and staff, I’ve been encouraged to step outside my comfort zone and work on becoming a better me for myself and the people around me. At Carroll, I have had the privilege of working closely with two faculty members who have significantly shaped my academic and professional growth. As a writing assistant, I worked with Dr. Barb Kilgust, who was a mentor to me in supporting students through the writing process. Under her guidance, I was able to provide constructive feedback and helped students gain confidence in their writing. My role as a writing assistant deepened my appreciation for the writing process and strengthened my communication and leadership skills.
