Major: Health Care Administration
Minors: Public Health and Management and Leadership

Why this major? What made you choose it?

I love being able to understand the inner workings of healthcare while also learning how to be a better leader in a variety of settings.

What is your career objective?

While I haven’t limited myself to any specific career aspirations, I hope to make healthcare in the United States better for everyone.

How has what you’ve learned in your courses so far prepared you for your future?

I truly believe that my courses at Carroll have prepared me for anything my career may hold. In addition to developing a deep understanding of healthcare administration, I have also gained many other valuable skills which help me feel ready and prepared for my future.

What opportunities have you had to work closely with a faculty member and what impact has that had on your education?

Working with Sarah Esveldt has been an incredible experience. She is extremely knowledgeable about the field of healthcare and provides us with career advice, job opportunities, and more.

What is the most memorable experience you’ve had in your education at Carroll?

While it may not be one specific experience, I have yet to have a class that hasn’t effectively utilized group collaboration and open communication between the students and the professor. Every class I’ve taken has been well designed with the intention of making the most out of small class sizes and professor-student relationships.

How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person?

Through Carroll I have been able to discover several new fields that have led me to my current academic path. I feel that I have been able to experience things that I would not have been able to at other institutions, and through my first few years at Carroll I feel like I have grown into a more well-rounded person.

If you were recommending your major to a prospective student, what would you tell them?

Healthcare administration really is the best of both worlds. You get to work in the healthcare field while utilizing a wide variety of skills that allow you to be a successful administrator. Also, any career related to healthcare is rapidly growing, meaning there will be countless opportunities with a healthcare administration degree.

How has financial aid made a difference in your life?

I received a scholarship through performing in my high school band. Receiving this scholarship made me realize that people in the world want to help college students succeed. Financial circumstances shouldn’t have a drastic impact on one’s college experience, something Carroll has shown through their many scholarship opportunities.

What’s your favorite place to study on campus?

Stone Creek Coffee in the library. It has a warm, energetic atmosphere and the amazing smell of fresh coffee really can’t be beat.
