Academic Program: MSN - Nurse Educator

Why do you want to become a nurse educator?

I see the potential in student nurses, and I want to inspire, influence and mentor them. What better way to pass on my experiences and passion for nursing than by sharing it with those who want to care for people and become part of the most trusted profession?

What drew you to Carroll’s program?

Being a Carroll Alumni I knew the university would ensure my success and support me in my academic journey. Knowing that Carroll’s values are aligned with my own made the decision easy to attend a university that cares for their students and recognizes their true potential.

Are you working in the field now?

Yes, I currently am working as a Registered Nurse for Advocate Aurora Health Care as well as an adjunct faculty member for the undergraduate nursing program at Carroll University.

How does Carroll’s hybrid model—which offers both online and in-person classes—benefit you?

The flexibility of the program makes it easy to continue to work while also having enough time to pursue my degree. Having the ability to participate in both online and in-person classes makes it easier to get back into the “student mindset.”

Can you tell us a little about your experience as a student? How are you able to manage the time demands?

At first, I was hesitant to go back to school due to my busy work schedule, but Carroll’s program is so accommodating. The professors are willing to help you succeed and having the option to be either a part-time or full-time student allows me to be in control of my future.

Students in our program learn in our state-of-the-art nursing simulation facilities. How have these benefitted your education?

Carroll’s nursing simulation facilities allow for students to “practice” reality. Having the opportunity to work in such an advanced setting makes it easy to envision myself as a future nurse educator.
