Student Orientation for Accepted International Students
Carroll University’s International Student Orientation (ISO) is for all incoming Carroll University international students, including Undergraduate, Graduate, CU International Semester, and Exchange students. ISO is designed to provide the best possible transition to Carroll for incoming international students from all over the world. Incoming students will be introduce to OGE staff, current Carroll students- both international and domestic- as well as Carroll faculty and staff from various departments and offices. Prior to arriving to campus, students will have access to an online mini-course that will acquaint them to campus from afar.
During International Student Orientation, the Office of Global Education staff will help newly arriving students to learn about campus services, tour campus facilities, and offer time ask questions about advising, registration, and housing. Time is also scheduled to help students adjust to their residence hall rooms, purchase necessities not brought from home, and to explore our Waukesha and Milwaukee communities. International students will also have an International Orientation Mentor to help them through the first few weeks on campus and answer questions, student-to-student.
In the Fall semester, Carroll University’s International Student Orientation is combined with Carroll’s New Student Orientation (NSO) and Welcome Week activities.
Topics of discussion include:
- Academic Life on Campus
- Health Insurance and Health Care
- Carroll University Campus Services
- Public Safety
- Maintaining your Immigration Status
- Meal Plans and Your Carroll University ID Card
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of meals and activities and get to know new and returning Carroll University students.
Past activities have included:
- Life-Sized Games
- Live Bands
Apart from International Student Orientation, students who begin their studies in the Spring semester at Carroll will also have the opportunity to participate in activities coordinated by Student Affairs designed to welcome students back to school in January the first week of classes. Like the activities conducted during Orientation Week in the Fall semester, these are great opportunities for new students to make new friends and develop meaningful connections with other students on campus.
Please note that while the ISO activities are required for all students on F-1 visas, it is open to all students who consider themselves international. OEG recognizes that Carroll is fortunate to welcome international students every year who are U.S. permanent residents, who have grown up outside of the U.S., or who should otherwise be included in our ISO activities. If this sounds like you, please email us at email@example.com. Please note that Carroll University’s International Student Orientation does carry a mandatory fee, covering meals, transportations, and early housing costs. We would love to include you in ISO and all other activities!
