Department – Learning Commons - Academic Resources
Job Title – Learning Commons Information Desk Attendant
Purpose of Job
Learning Commons Information Desk Attendants are responsible for the circulation of Learning Commons equipment and assisting the Carroll Community professionally and efficiently with inquiries regarding services available in the Learning Commons such as Drop-In Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Writing Assistance and Career Services
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons utilizing the Learning Commons
Responsible for accurate and careful circulation of Learning Commons equipment
Provide student patrons with accurate information regarding peer educator support services
Document peer educator cancelations and attendance issues in Microsoft Excel
Assist peer educators with materials such as signage and feedback cards
Assist students with online applications such as Handshake and LCOnline
Regularly check and sort e-mails sent to the Learning Commons mailing list
Maintain record of the number of patrons utilizing the Learning Commons
Maintain record of patron requests and needs
Keep physical space neat and well-organized
Answer phone calls. Provide information to callers and properly redirect as needed
Maintain regular communication with supervisor
Attend all required meetings and trainings
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Job Qualifications
Strong customer service skills and desire to help Carroll students, staff and faculty
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High degree of attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
Demonstrate reliability and flexibility related to work schedule
Ability to learn and adapt to an ever changing environment
Ability to work as a team player and respect others
Basic knowledge of computers and relevant software applications (Excel, Outlook)
