Please join us for the 2017-18 Carroll University Fall Executive in Residence presentation by Christy L. Brown—CEO of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast and Carroll University Board of Trustees member.

Leadership Lessons: Insights into the life lesson of a leader

Pursuit of one’s passions can act as a compass for a satisfying career. In addition, passion can also be used as a tool to guide organizational achievement. Capitalizing on individual and organizational passion can yield transformative results for communities. In this session describing one person’s journey of service and leadership, find informative lessons on navigating your path and on guiding organizational strategy by focusing on what drives us and what is authentic, true and possible. 

Christy Brown will share insights into her success as an executive with leadership experience in the public and private sectors. She has focused on excellence and results, both financial and administrative, while exhibiting an intellectual, yet pragmatic approach to problem-solving, often with a needed sense of humor.

Speaker Biography
Christy L. Brown is CEO of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, serving over 28,000 girls and almost 9,000 volunteers in seven counties. Christy is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and vision for the non-profit agency whose mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Prior to this role she was Vice Chancellor, Finance & Administrative Affairs and Chief Business & Financial Officer at UW-Milwaukee, overseeing non-academic operations including business and financial services, human resources, information technology, facilities and campus planning, internal audit, and the University Police. Previous positions included executive vice president and general counsel at MATC, vice president and corporate counsel at Lutheran Social Services and associate attorney with Michael Best & Friedrich. Christy holds a J.D. and M.A. from Duke University and a B.A. from Stanford University. She is currently on the Board of the Northwestern Mutual Series Fund, Inc., a trustee at Carroll University and a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, TEMPO Milwaukee, the International Women’s Forum and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. She recently obtained a certificate in Strategic Perspectives in Non-profit Management from Harvard Business School.
