An EEG Certificate provides a flexible, streamlined path for those interested in a career change or anyone seeking a quicker route to a professional role. This program offers an accelerated 21-credit design composed of six existing courses from Carroll’s accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) program. With national shortages of Neurodiagnostic Technologists (estimated 26,000 future jobs) students will quickly fill positions with incredible career growth potential.

Prerequisites & Eligibility  

Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to admission:

  • Pre-professional GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Grades of C or better in prerequisite coursework
  • Completion of the following courses:
    • ANP130 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology (4 credits @ CU)
    • ANP140 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology (4 credits @ CU)
    • HCA100 - Medical Terminology (2 credits @ CU)
    • Active - American Heart CPR Certified

Curriculum & ABRET EEG Registration Eligibility

The curriculum is based on the Committee Accredited for Education in Neurodiagnostic Technology (CoA-NDT) established by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Students will qualify for the national American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) EEG registration examination. Successful completion of this exam allows students to seek employment as EEG Technologists.

Clinical hours and days will vary depending on the location the student has been matched with. 

Clinical placements will be selected to support geographic accessibility and convenience whenever possible. Students must complete 350 unpaid clinical hours during the spring semester to earn the certificate. Students gain diverse educational experience at academic facilities and major clinical sites, including:

  • Aurora Health Care
  • Advocate Health Care
  • Atrium Health
