Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Campus dining will also be modified, with health and safety as a top priority. We are planning to add multiple distribution and seating locations for existing dining options. We are also considering movable ordering, delivery, grab and go and new pick up locations. Other considerations include creative solutions to finding additional and expanded dining options.

To minimize MDR traffic, the limited dining room seating that will be available will be reserved for students only.

What dining options will be available for us this fall?

All current dining options will be available: Gert’s Grab 'n Go, the Main Dining Room (MDR), Pioneer Indoor Terrace (PIT) and Au Bon Pain (ABP), with the addition of new locations to be located in Ganfield, Van Male, and on Main Lawn (weather permitting).

Will mobile food delivery also be an option for the students living on campus? What will pre-packaged food look like?

What will be different in the various dining locations to accommodate social distancing and health guidelines?

Several measures are being put in place to adjust to social distancing for on-campus dining this fall. We are following local, state and national guidelines and health department recommendations. Some examples include: partitioning MDR into sections to limit numbers, removing tables/chairs, removing self-serve options and limiting occupancy in retail locations, etc.

What extra or different services will you be providing to make up for the reduction of services in the MDR (or other retail locations)?

In order to assist with disbursing dining populations and still serve our students, we have implemented mobile ordering, pop-up/pickup locations across campus, scheduled dining times in the MDR, etc.

I plan to live in the residence halls. Do I have to buy the same level of meal plan or will you relax the requirements given limited options and wanting us to be more socially distant?

All Carroll students who are subject to the residency requirement are also required to select a Resident Meal Plan (Plans B, D, F or X). Students that have achieved junior standing (60 credits) by the beginning of the academic year and live in Frontier, Pioneer or Prairie Halls may also select a Grand Avenue Meal Plan (Plans T or V). Only students living in the Carroll Street, College Avenue or Hartwell Avenue Apartments or the Baymont Inn & Suites are exempt from this policy. How will you address social distancing requirements in the MDR and other dining locations?

Where possible we will have dedicated entrances and exits, floor markings and signage to ensure social distancing can be maintained. We will also manage occupancy and adjust seating capacity to ensure consistency with current guidelines and recommendations.
