Pioneers' track and field has been running away from opponents
Carroll University’s athletic programs are putting together one of the most impressive all-around seasons in recent memory, with standout performances across multiple sports highlighting both individual excellence and team success.
Track & Field: A Youth Movement Making Noise Nationally
The track and field program has been fueled by an exceptional group of freshmen who have quickly established themselves on both the conference and national stages.
On the women’s side,
Jenna Weis emerged as a national qualifier in the pole vault, earning
All-Region honors in the process. Her success set the tone for a remarkable first-year class that has already begun rewriting the program’s record book.
The men’s side matched that impact with
Carlos Cadet Jr. and Brian Smith each qualifying for the
NCAA Championships. Cadet dominated the conference, capturing CCIW titles in both the long jump and triple jump while also earning
All-Region recognition. Smith added to the national presence with an
All-Region performance in the 400-meter dash. All three athletes set multiple school records this season, signaling a bright future for the program.
From a team perspective, the women’s squad consistently delivered strong performances throughout the year, capturing victories at the
Ripon College Indoor Meet (Feb. 14), the
Carroll Outdoor Meet (March 28) and the
Beloit Outdoor Meet (April 10). The combination of emerging young talent and team success has positioned Carroll as a rising force in the conference.
Bowling: A Historic Breakthrough Season
The bowling team turned in a season for the record books, achieving several program-first milestones. Carroll finished tied for first in the CCIW regular season standings before winning the
CCIW Tournament to secure the program’s
first-ever automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
That momentum carried into the postseason, where the Pioneers earned their first NCAA Tournament victory with a 2–1 win over Fayetteville State. Competing against elite national programs, Carroll held its own in narrow losses to top-seeded Jacksonville State (2–0) and defending national champion Youngstown State (2–1), proving it can compete at the highest level.
Individually,
Ava Butt led the charge with a standout season that earned her
CCIW Co-Player of the Year honors,
First Team All-Conference recognition and three
CCIW Athlete of the Week selections. She also received the
Elite 26 Award at the conference championship, underscoring her excellence in both academics and athletics.
Miley Brooks added to the team’s success with
First Team All-Conference honors and was named
CCIW First-Year Athlete of the Year, while
Samantha Sciortino also earned
Athlete of the Week recognition during the season. Together, the group helped define a breakthrough year for the program.
