Carroll University is more than just a campus, we’re a community. We’re a place where you’ll belong, and a new student space in the lower level of the Campus Center hopes to engender even more of that community feeling when it opens in the fall of 2020. Hard at work throughout the fall and spring semesters, Carroll University's student life and facilities teams converted portions of the former bookstore and the Ratzow Dining Room into a bright and warm lounge for our Pioneers—affectionately dubbed Pete's Den. Enjoy this sneak peek!
Planned as a multi-functional lounge, Pete’s Den is part of an ongoing effort to expand and improve student spaces throughout campus.
"We know students want a place to just hang out, so we wanted to provide that, but we also recognized that space is at a premium on campus. The room can also be divided for student organizations to reserve one side for meetings or events," said Katie Lesperance, director of student activities and fraternity/sorority life.
The den, located between Carroll's new esports facility and the dining options in the Pioneer Indoor Terrace (PIT), will host programming like movie nights, craft events, esports watch parties and more. The furniture, which is intended to have the comfort and functionality of a living room, is mobile and can be rearranged for the specific needs of each event.
