CARROLL UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES MOHAMMED I.T. BEY AS VICE PRESIDENT OF INSTITUTIONAL INCLUSION

Mohammed Bey, Vice President of Institutional Inclusion

Bey comes to Carroll with extensive experience in higher education DEI and multicultural initiatives, in addition to leadership development and anti-violence work. Most recently, he founded Bey Community Consulting LLC, which provides personal and academic tools to bring forth the power of individuality and value of connecting. Bey partnered with individuals and organizations to foster leadership development, personal consulting, multicultural insight, inspirational speaking and group facilitation. 

In his new role, Bey will be responsible for providing the strategic vision and framework to foster an inclusive campus community with a strong sense of belonging. He will work to cultivate a climate of awareness, understanding and respect for all individuals and groups. 

“I am thrilled to bring an inclusive, holistic approach to DEI and multicultural programming here at Carroll,” Bey said. “I look forward to partnering with organizations across campus to foster a strong sense of community as we collaborate on these important endeavors together.”  

Previously, Bey served as the inaugural Chief Officer for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). He also served as the college’s Title IX Coordinator. Prior to that role, Bey was Director for Multicultural Education at Quinnipiac University. Other former positions include Program Advisor for Diversity and Inclusion Programs at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Acting Assistant Dean of Students for Multicultural Affairs at Lawrence University.  

“It is an honor to welcome Mohammed to Carroll as our new leader for Institutional Inclusion,” said Dr. Cindy Gnadinger, president of Carroll University. “His extensive leadership experience working to advance DEI on college campuses will benefit Carroll immensely.”  

Bey is currently working toward a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Learning from Vanderbilt Peabody College. He earned a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Quality and a Bachelor of Arts in Public and Professional Communication from Marian University of Fond du Lac.  

In his new role, Bey will serve as a Senior Leadership Team member and a key liaison with the Board of Trustees. He will also advise the Board and the President on the full range of policy, strategy and inclusion matters. Bey’s official start date with Carroll was Monday, May 2.
