Carroll University Pioneer Athletics, in accordance with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) ruling, will postpone fall athletic competitions effective immediately. This ruling is in effect for all nine fall sports programs, including football, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and volleyball.
"This decision was not taken lightly," said Carroll University President Cindy Gnadinger. “We explored all options available to bring our fall student-athletes back in a safe manner this season. Unfortunately, postponing competitions was the best way to keep our student-athletes safe in what will be a unique fall semester."
Gnadinger is a member of the CCIW Council of Presidents (COP) that unanimously voted to postpone fall competitions and championships.
The CCIW will be exploring options for primary fall sports like football, volleyball, cross country, and soccer to compete in the spring, while maintaining schedules for spring and fall sports tennis and golf.
"As an athletic department it is our job to provide student-athletes with the best possible experiences, which include keeping them safe and healthy," said Director of Athletics Michael Schulist. "This decision will no doubt impact our student-athletes experience. Fortunately, I know our administration and coaching staff are committed to finding creative and safe ways to keep our student-athletes engaged this fall with an eye on competing again in spring."
