Dr. Lilly Goren, professor of political science, has been named the 2018 faculty recipient of the Carroll University Exemplary Contributions in Service Award.

Dr. Goren has been consistently engaged in extensive service-related activities on campus during her time at Carroll. She has served as President of the Faculty (2009-11), President of the Assembly (2011-13), and, since 2015, as Director of the Honors Program. Among the key initiatives approved and implemented during her time as faculty president was the new Pioneer Core curriculum.

Dr. Goren’s service to the community is also extensive. She is a well-regarded commentator and political analyst who can frequently be heard on Milwaukee and Wisconsin public radio (WUWM and WPR), as well on television (TMJ4 and others). Her analysis has also appeared in local and national media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg.com and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, among others. Additionally, Dr. Goren has served on the Board of Hillel Milwaukee, including as Board President (2014-16) and Vice President (2012-14).

Dr. Goren is also very active in her profession, serving on the governance councils of the American Political Science Association and the Association for Political Theory. She is a regular reviewer of manuscripts for a variety of journals and publishers, as well as the National Endowment for the Humanities.

In order to honor and extend the impact of these awards, Carroll will provide a donation of $500 on behalf of Dr. Goren to the charity of her choice.

The award will be presented to Dr. Goren at Celebrate Success on April 24.
