Sahera Dirajlal-Fargo ’99 attended Carroll as an international student from France and graduated with a degree in Biology before heading to medical school to specialize in pediatrics. Sahera explained her position at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital on the Case Western Reserve campus requires her to wear many hats—she leads ongoing pediatric HIV research in sub Saharan Africa, educates the next generation of physicians and researchers as an assistant professor in pediatrics, serves as an administrator for the medical school fellowship program, all while seeing patients as a lead physician in pediatric infectious diseases. Check out this month’s CU in the Workplace feature to hear from Sahera about her passion for global health, desire to mentor the next generation of female physicians, and how she balances research halfway around the world in Africa.
