Dear fellow Pio alumni,

It is hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us, and that Thanksgiving is just weeks away. For many of us, November is a time to reflect on all the reasons we have to be grateful. Mine include health, meaningful work that I love, and family and friends. I am especially thankful this year to be planning a trip with five Carroll friends, and am grateful every day for the deep and enduring relationships formed during my time at Carroll. It is one of the reasons I feel passionate about serving on the Alumni Council and fostering continuing engagement between the university and its alumni.

One opportunity to engage with Carroll and help your community at the same time is to participate in the annual Month of Service.

In accordance with the University Ethos, alumni are encouraged to give back in their own communities throughout November. As Pioneers, we continue to help address the needs of our communities through stewardship by engaging in service for the first time, or by repeating something you might already be doing at your place of worship, local schools, a non-profit organization, community center, and more.

This month, please join other Carroll University alumni, families and friends by providing time, talent or treasure to a cause that is close to your heart or to those living in need in your community. There are countless ways to share what you have with those in need. However you choose to serve during the Month of Service, please report back and share your contributions so we are able to capture and share all of the ways our Pioneers make a difference in their communities.

Keeping with the theme of gratitude and service, we all know that Thanksgiving is followed by Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but I hope Giving Tuesday, November 30, is also on your radar. Giving Tuesday promotes charitable giving worldwide for schools, non-profits, and other organizations primarily through social media and collaboration with supporters. Gifts to this year's Giving Tuesday effort will support the Carroll Fund and student scholarships. Many of you know firsthand the importance of these scholarships to students and their families. The Carroll Fund is a sustainable resource only because of philanthropic support from donors like you. Each day students rely on the resources and scholarships that Carroll provides. Each day your gifts make the Carroll experience possible for a new generation of students. On Giving Tuesday, there is truly power in one day. Please make Carroll one of your philanthropic interests this #GivingTuesday.

In gratitude,

Ann
