In a year that none of us predicted, reflections on 2020 are like none other. Despite the unpredictability and challenges, I remain grateful for all of life’s blessings including Carroll’s amazing alumni family.

In this time of great need, Pioneers surfaced to step up and step out:

  • In April, when the pandemic first started, we witnessed 537 alumni and friends raise 232,347 meals in 42 U.S. states for hungry community members, almost quadrupling Carroll’s goal of 60,000 meals.
  • In the spring and summer, stories of alumni helping their kids or grandkids learn virtually, assisting their parents, lending a hand to a neighbor or friend in need, making masks, and pioneering by making a COVID-19 test kit, warmed the hearts of many.
  • For our November Month of Service, we celebrated 226 alumni who served and gave to their local communities through time (2,513 hours), talent (211 hours) and treasure ($36,682).
  • And most recently, my colleagues in Institutional Advancement and I treasured the Pio Pride on Giving Tuesday when 228 donors gave in support of student scholarships and The Carroll Fund, collectively raising $129,904.

Thank you for giving of yourselves and for persevering Pioneers
