Carroll University's Business Spanish Certificate program is designed with working adults and career-focused learners in mind.

In response to a growing need for bilingual professionals across industries, Carroll University is proud to announce the launch of its Online Business Spanish Certificate, with the first course set to begin on August 31, 2025.

Designed with working adults and career-focused learners in mind, the certificate consists of a single 16-week asynchronous online course, broken into four focused four-week modules. Participants will have the flexibility to complete one module at a time or take the full sequence to earn a comprehensive digital certificate in Business Spanish.

The program is tailored for those with little to no Spanish experience who want to gain a strong foundation in Spanish business terminology and cultural norms. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to better connect and communicate with Spanish-speaking colleagues, clients and communities across sectors.

Learners will earn a verified digital badge after each module, giving them a powerful tool to showcase their language and professional skills on platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X. These badges include metadata employers can quickly verify, enhancing credibility and visibility in a competitive job market.

“Spanish is the second most spoken language in the U.S., and it continues to gain importance in fields like healthcare, education, law, finance, and customer service,” said Dr. Kareem R. Muhammad, Carroll’s Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “This program is designed to provide real business value to professionals while also enhancing their cultural fluency.”

The program isn’t just online. Students who want to deepen their engagement can participate in optional hybrid and in-person cultural immersion and networking events, adding valuable human connection and live support to the experience. Resources and technology support are available throughout the program to help participants stay on track and succeed.

Tuition will be $2,200 for the full certificate (16-week course), or $585 per module/badge (four weeks) – a competitive price point considering the proven salary advantages of bilingualism. According to Salary.com, bilingual professionals often earn 5–20% more per hour than their monolingual peers.

“The flexibility of this program makes it ideal for professionals balancing work and life,” said Dr. Jessica Boll, Professor of Spanish at Carroll. “Whether you're looking to gain an edge in your current field or pivot into a new role, this certificate is a smart investment.”

The course will run at least twice a year, allowing learners to begin at a pace that suits their schedules.
