Lisa Elliott ’90

2023 Distinguished Alumni Award for Professional Achievement: School of Education & Human Services

Lisa Elliott ’90 is a life-long educator. She has served the School District of Greenfield through various roles including high school chemistry teacher; coach of volleyball, basketball, and track; high school assistant principal; and elementary principal. Additionally, she spent two years as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Nicolet School District. Her positive experiences and the exceptional educators at Milwaukee Tech High School are what kindled her flame to be an educator.

Currently, Elliott is in her 10th year as the Superintendent in the School District of Greenfield. She is the first woman to be named to this position in the district’s history. As Superintendent, she works with an amazing team of dedicated educators who are laser-focused on preparing students for college, careers, leadership, and life through developing learners who can apply knowledge and think innovatively as a result of engaging in rigorous and relevant opportunities in and out of the classroom.

The goal in the School District of Greenfield is for students to experience success in both academic and affective domains. This is accomplished by providing an understanding-based, engaging curriculum along with student-centered instructional practices and contemporary learning environments.

Elliott received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in secondary education from Carroll. She earned her master’s degree in administrative leadership from Alverno College, her superintendent’s certification from Cardinal Stritch University and is currently working on her EdD through Alverno College. Elliott also teaches as an adjunct in the Carroll University Educational Leadership Program and at Alverno College.

She met her husband, Mike Elliott, at Carroll and he is currently a principal at Hadfield Elementary School in Waukesha. They have two children: Emily, who graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Arts in theatre arts and a certification in arts management, lives in NYC, and works for the American Theatre Wing as a Development Associate, and Joseph, who is currently a junior at UW-Eau Claire and a viola performance major.
