Social Science Research Lab
The Carroll University Social Science Research Lab of the College of Arts and Sciences enriches the university experience through programming, discussions, awards, and conferences. We work with the Center for the Humanities with the Use Your Voice Competition and The Deirdre M. Kennan Award for Writing Excellence. Work is open to all students, faculty, and the public.
The Social Science Research Lab focuses on the power of science to analyze, describe, and change our social world. This is designed to help students, faculty, and the community to engage in social science projects that answer any questions you are asking. Many projects in the SSRL consist of independent studies, capstone projects, thesis, dissertation, literature reviews, data analysis, and data reporting. Furthermore, this lab can help actualize a research project for your business, organization, and/or community event.
Use Your Voice Award
This award recognizes the excellent work Carroll students complete that forge community connections and puts academics into action!
Student Independent Study
Students from various disciplines can engage in a 2 or 4 credit independent study for the purpose of learning the social science research process under the guidance of Dr. Jennifer Huck. These can be multi-semester projects that lead to professional conference presentations and academic manuscripts for journal publications.
The Unconference at Carroll
This event is open to all students in high school and college who have a desire to be life-long learners. The event is free. Registration is limited to 50 participants. This event takes place in mid-March with registration open in January. Email Dr. Jennifer Huck to learn more.
Social science-based programming is central to the Carroll University experience. Our goal is to build an endowed fund that will provide long-term support for the Carroll University Social Science Research Lab and its activities. Please consider a gift that will help establish a permanent resource for the social sciences at Carroll.
If you would like to make a donation to support the Carroll University Center for the Social Science Research Lab, select “other” as your gift designation and type in “SSRL”.
