Honors Program Curriculum

In order to graduate with Honors from Carroll University, requirements are as follows:

  • Students who join in their first year must complete 6 honor courses (or equivalent).
  • Students who join in their second year must complete 5 honor courses (or equivalent).
  • Carroll3 and pre-PT 3-2 Students must complete 5 honor courses (or equivalent).

To retain Honors status, students need to successfully complete every Honors course they are enrolled in. The program does not require students to maintain a particular GPA. Nevertheless, there are regular student performance reviews, conducted by Honors staff and faculty, that guarantee and foster academic integrity and excellence.

Students Beginning the Program in the First Year

Required courses
First year – 3 courses
Fall:  
 
  • CCS100H “Cross Cultural Seminar” Honors
  • ENG170H “English Seminar” Honors
Spring:    
  • At least one Honors distribution course (HON29-)
Second-Fourth year – 1-3 courses
Fall or Spring:  
  • At least one Honors distribution course (HON29-)
Students are expected to complete at least 4 of the 6 required courses by the end of their second year. They may complete the remaining 2 by:

Students Beginning the Program in the Second Year

Required courses:
Second year – 3 courses
Fall:
  • HON251 “Honors Seminar”
Spring:
  • HON252 “Honors Seminar II”
  • At least one other Honors course (HON29- or elective)
Third-Fourth Year – 1-2 courses
Fall or Spring:
  • At least one other Honors course (HON29- or elective)
Students are expected to complete at least 4 of the 5 required courses by the end of their third year. They may complete the remaining course by (see below for details):
