Admission to the Carroll University Master of Science in Pathologists' Assistant Studies Program requires a baccalaureate degree and the satisfactory completion of preprofessional coursework. The program considers all qualified applicants without discrimination regardless of race, color, creed, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, national or ethnic origin, or handicap that does not interfere with the performance of professional pathologists' assistant practice as provided by law.

Admission Timeline

  • August 1st: Application Opens
  • February 28th: Priority Application Deadline
  • April 15th: Final Application Deadline
  • September through May: Virtual interviews conducted
  • September: Offers begin as interviews are completed

Application Process

Admission decisions will be based on submission and evaluation of the items below:

STEP 1: Submit the Graduate Studies Application

STEP 2: Complete and submit the following within the application status portal after submission of your application:

  1. Personal Statement - Define your goals and objectives for the pursuit of graduate studies.
  2. Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  3. Three Professional References - Examples could include a college instructor, healthcare professional, supervisor, etc. A submission link will be sent to your reference once you enter contact information within your application.
  4. Observation/Shadow Hours in a Pathology Lab - Experience required, however there is no hour requirement
  5. Safety and Technical Standards FormCompleted within the application status portal.
  6. GRE or MCAT Scores - Encouraged, but not required (Submit via Carroll Code 1101)
  7. Official Post-Secondary Transcripts - From all institutions attended

Academic Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Applicants

      Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
      Preprofessional GPA of 3.0 or higher
      A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution must be awarded prior to matriculation

Pre-professional Coursework

      Anatomy* – 1 semester with lab
      Physiology* – 1 semester with lab (or a 1-year combined anatomy and physiology course)
      General Biology – 2 semesters (lab is preferred, but not required)
      General Chemistry – 2 semesters with lab
      Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry – 1 semester with lab
      Statistics – 1 semester
      Microbiology – 1 semester (lab is preferred, but not required)
      3 additional semesters of upper-level sciences (300 level or higher)
 
*Anatomy and Physiology must be completed within five years of the date of application.
*Pre-professional courses must be completed with a "C" or higher prior to matriculation. Note that a "C-" will not be accepted.
