Carroll University continues to be a pioneer in higher education as the first university in Wisconsin to have its Reading Teacher and Dyslexia Interventionist programs earn accreditation from the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). We are proud of our faculty and staff’s efforts to achieve such prestigious recognition.

IDA Accredited Program

The Reading Teacher Program (#0316) focuses on structured literacy practices, providing educators with the tools and expertise to address a variety of reading challenges. Graduates of this program are qualified to earn the Wisconsin Reading Teacher License.

The Dyslexia Interventionist Certification is embedded within the Reading Teacher program, this optional certification includes additional practicum hours and a winterim course. Students who complete this rigorous curriculum are equipped to specialize in dyslexia intervention, offering targeted support to students with dyslexia and related reading difficulties.

As an IDA-accredited institution, Carroll is now also designated as an ACT 20 provider. This designation enables us to offer professional development in structured literacy to educators across Wisconsin.
