Educational Studies Minor

This minor gives you the opportunity to gain a foundational background in education. You’ll develop strong interpersonal communication skills, an understanding of development and learning and a multicultural and global perspective on society. The educational studies minor prepares students for future careers that require working with children, adolescents, young adults and adults outside of a traditional K-12 setting.

This minor is often paired with art, business, criminal justice, environmental science, English and writing, history, management and leadership, music therapy, nursing, psychology, public health, religious studies, sociology, sport and recreation administration and theater arts.

Students completing the educational studies minor can apply the coursework toward the educational studies major or an elementary education major or secondary education minor if they later decide to complete a licensure program. Please note, students who complete the educational studies minor alone will not meet the competencies necessary to be endorsed for a Wisconsin teaching license.
