K-8 Mathematics Certificate Program

K-8 Mathematics Certificate candidates at Carroll University develop an in-depth understanding of mathematics content, processes, and pedagogy appropriate for grades K-8. They engage in professional learning communities and develop leadership skills to support and facilitate effective mathematics instruction and professional growth in their schools and districts.

Audience

  • Educators with an educator license who want to develop expertise in K-8 mathematics teaching.

Prerequisites

  • Existing Wisconsin educator license

Course Meeting Design

  • Courses are delivered through a hybrid model. In summer, students meet four times face-to-face.In Fall and Spring, students meet face-to-face one time per month for four hours/course during the following time frames:  
    • Saturday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Readings and assignments are completed outside of class time.  Students coordinate occasional outside-of-class, small group work times.

Evidence of Completion

  • Certificate
  • Can apply toward M.Ed. in Teaching & Learning

Total Credits

  • 5 classes= 15 credits
