The Unconference @ Carroll
We held the inaugural Unconference in March 2025 in the IDEA Lab of Carroll University. This event is open to all students in high school and college who have a desire to be life-long learners. The event is free. Registration is limited to 50 participants. This event takes place in mid-March with registration open in January. Email Dr. Jennifer Huck jhuck@carrollu.edu to learn more.
What is an Unconference?
It is a loosely structured informal event where you can talk about academic or scholarly ideas. It does not follow a typical conference schedule – it does not have presentations, panels, poster sessions or talks to prepare. You come with your knowledge and ideas to talk to others who wish to engage in similar subject matters.
Who should Unconference?
Any student who wants to work in an inclusive, open, happy, informal, relaxed environment. Perhaps you need to prepare for a more traditional presentation at a conference or for school. Perhaps you want to engage with other folks who care about the things that you do.
How we Unconference!
We provide a general theme for the annual Unconference event. Students in college and high school register for this free event in January. You will tell us some topics you are interested in speaking about. We will put similar topics into groups and help facilitate discussions. Each group creates an artifact to share with other attendees before we leave the event.
