Music Education General Emphasis

In the general emphasis, you’ll take music education core courses in music theory and musicianship, as well as conducting, piano, music history and teaching instrumental, choral or general music, supplemented with lessons, ensemble experiences and recitals. You’ll also study the function of education in society, educational psychology and intercultural and multicultural education. Finally, you’ll have ample opportunities to observe and participate in real classrooms during several field experiences and student teaching opportunities.
