Haylee Albrecht, a sophomore biology and environmental science double major, was one of 50 students nationwide to be awarded a study abroad grant worth $1,000 from Phi Kappa Phi. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
The selection process for the study abroad grant is based on the applicant’s academic achievement, campus and community service, a personal statement, letters of recommendation and acceptance into a study abroad program. Haylee plans to use the grant to study abroad in Chengdu, China through the Global Maximum Educational Opportunities (G-MEO) program.
“Upon hearing about the grant, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I knew that this contribution towards my trip put me one step closer towards the reality of studying in China. I continuously find myself overwhelmed with the enormity of this experience; however, I am reminded by the support and encouragement behind Phi Kappa Phi, Carroll University, as well as my friends and family that this endeavor is what I am meant to do.” Albrecht also adds, “Through this grant, I am able to manifest this dream into a reality, and I am so thankful.”
