Carroll University has selected Barnes & Noble College, a Barnes & Noble Education company, to manage its bookstore operations, effective October 1, 2018. The multichannel operations will drive affordability and accessibility for students, faculty and the Carroll University campus community.

“We are delighted to work with Barnes & Noble College to provide an innovative option for our students,” said Dr. Cindy Gnadinger, president of Carroll University. “Having the necessary materials to succeed in the classroom is extremely important and we are confident that Barnes & Noble College will support our campus community in the best possible way.”

As Carroll University’s dedicated course material provider, Barnes & Noble College, powered by MBS Direct, will operate a virtual bookstore where students can browse and purchase their course materials in a convenient and accessible manner. This online portal will allow students to view all available formats, including new, used, digital and rental, as well as open educational resources (OER) content and courseware from OpenStax, LoudCloud Courseware™ and other major OER providers.

Barnes & Noble College will also seamlessly integrate systems with the University’s Canvas learning management system (LMS), allowing students to view their registered courses alongside the corresponding learning materials. Faculty will gain access to FacultyEnlight, an advanced online textbook adoption platform that offers a step-by-step guide for course material adoptions, recommendations, peer reviews, adoption history and the ability to compare course material prices and formats.

In addition to operating the virtual bookstore for course material purchases, Barnes & Noble College will also operate the on-campus Pioneer Shop. The Pioneer Shop will offer a vast assortment of general merchandise items, including clothing and gifts that reflect the Pioneer spirit, as well as school supplies, technology and more. Additionally, the Pioneer Shop will serve as a convenient on-campus hub for the pick-up and return of course materials ordered through the virtual bookstore.

“We look forward to joining Carroll University in ensuring their students and faculty are equipped for success in the school year and beyond,” said Patrick Maloney, President of Barnes & Noble College. “It is our goal to provide institutions with custom solutions that fit their unique needs. Our partnership with Carroll will allow us to deliver a more streamlined and accessible shopping experience for the campus community, all while providing greater value for the University.”

Barnes & Noble College currently operates more than 760 campus stores nationwide. For more information about Barnes & Noble College’s services and locations, visit www.bncollege.com
