Grant will support DPT scholarships

Carroll University received grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to support scholarships for disadvantaged graduate students in the physical therapy program. The $22,308 grant includes $9,124 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Carroll's clinical doctor of physical therapy program is fully accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education and the Higher Learning Commission – North Central Association. One-third of student contact hours each semester are devoted to service learning initiatives, in which collaboration with community partners helps students foster a sense of caring for others, meet community needs, and cultivate civic and social responsibility.

Interested graduate-level students in the physical therapy program must complete a formal application for the HRSA scholarship program. An application is expected to be available in September. Awards will be based on financial need for as many students as possible. The HRSA scholarships constitute 100 percent of the available scholarship funding for disadvantaged students in the doctor of physical therapy program.
